Lawyer explains why Donnarumma and Romagnoli felt it was right to leave Milan

Lawyer Rafaela Pimenta has given some insight into how and why Gianluigi Donnarumma and Alessio Romagnoli ended up leaving AC Milan on free transfers.

Donnarumma was the first to depart Milan in the summer of 2021 as contract negotiations between the management and his then-agent the late Mino Raiola reached an impasse which forced Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara to go out and sign Mike Maignan as his replacement, with the Italian goalkeeper joining PSG in the weeks after.

Romagnoli’s departure was much less controversial as the defender had dropped out of Stefano Pioli’s first choice XI and after hoisting the Scudetto trophy back in May he secured a move to his boyhood club Lazio on a free.

Now Rafaela Pimenta, a lawyer who took charge of the list of clients that once belonged to Raiola, spoke of the operations that led two Rossoneri to leave Milan in the recent past.

“Donnarumma? At PSG he overcame the initial difficulties well. His was a sporting choice to question himself and increase his experiences, he didn’t leave Milan for economic reasons,” she said (via SempreMilan.it).

“Alessio Romagnoli made a choice as a fan: he could have gone to the Premier League and earned more, now he feels happy in Lazio.”
