Meet Keeva – Law student and junior paralegal

Pursue a career in the legal industry

Keeva chose to pursue a career in the legal industry after discovering that the law touches every part of a person’s life, which she found fascinating and enticed her to enter the industry and learn more.

As a college student, Keeva has worked as a paralegal alongside her studies, she revealed that it can be challenging to fit everything in especially during her exam periods, often waking up at 5am to get her university work done. Overall, Keeva stated that she hasn’t had too many challenges at this early stage in her college and legal career.

In general, many students can relate to the difficulty of managing a budget. When asked how she best manages her finances, Keeva said she prioritizes basic necessities such as food, bills, and gas, and then anything else secondary. She also noted that having a part-time job as a junior paralegal means she doesn’t have to struggle as much as those who don’t work alongside their studies.

Currently in her second year of study, Keeva has started classes such as tort law, property law, EU law and commercial law where the average day consists of various preparations for seminars and sessions.

Tip from a law student: “Choose your A Level courses wisely!”

In her role as a junior paralegal, she has legal administrative responsibilities such as writing and drafting court orders, preparing client care and attending hearings, which gives her extensive hands-on experience in the legal industry.

Keeva’s goal is to become a lawyer specializing in corporate and commercial law. When asked what advice she would give to someone hoping to apply as a law student, she noted that it’s very important to choose your A-level subjects wisely!

After choosing Politics and English Literature, she was glad she chose Politics specifically, as most of the content taught at A level is relevant to Year 1 law school.
