About John E. Tyrell
Tyrell’s practice focuses on three main areas. First, he has decades of experience representing operators and managers of stadiums, fields, recreation and entertainment facilities, including professional and collegiate sports teams. golf courses; ice rink; Gymnastics facilities; sailing associations; paintball facilities; and concert and entertainment venues. Mr. Tyrrell is a trial attorney for such entities and also provides risk management and liability prevention advice to these clients. He has developed particular expertise in the prosecution and defense of contractual indemnity and insurance claims, both in court and through declaratory proceedings. Mr. Tyrrell has spoken at training sessions for his clients’ event staff. He has also authored informational guides, ticket and permit disclaimers, potential publications, customer signage and other communication tools used at the facility.
Second, Mr. Tyrrell is trial counsel for several global product manufacturers and defends product liability litigation throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He has successfully presented several expert legal challenges to opposing experts in products liability cases, resulting in implausible defenses for his clients. Mr. Tyrrell’s relationships with product liability clients include serving as national trial and oversight counsel.
Mr. Tyrrell also represents his clients in commercial litigation and other commercial matters. He has handled cases involving dealer, vendor and royalty agreements, restrictive covenants, and other forms of breach of contract claims. He successfully represented the operator of a multi-purpose stadium in a claim against the provider of a beverage line system that resulted in the entire system being replaced and modified. He has secured defense verdicts in commercial damages trials in the tens of millions of dollars. Mr. Tyrrell and his team also provide commercial advisory services on a variety of concerns, including insurance coverage, product regulations and compliance, warranty language and the interpretation and general drafting and enforcement of any contractual provisions related to liability and risk prevention.
