Tesla Recruits Hewlett Packard Enterprise Lawyer For Senior Post

Elon Musk’s electric vehicle company Tesla Inc has hired former Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co-lawyer Derek Windham to lead its in-house corporate and securities legal team, according to a Reuters report.

Reuters reports that Windham’s LinkedIn account shows that he began working for Tesla in July as deputy general counsel for companies and securities, after previously serving several years as vice president of companies, securities, governance and finance at Hewlett Packard .

Currently, Tesla and its CEO Elon Musk are facing a number of legal battles. These include a legal battle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over a 2018 agreement to scrutinize Musk’s posts on the social media platform Twitter. Last month, Twitter also announced that it had hired someone US law firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz LLP is helping sue Musk over his abandonment of a $44 billion acquisition deal.

Over the past three years, Tesla has had five different top attorneys.

In a tweet from May Musk said he wanted to create a “hardcore process department” at his EV company.
