Following some opening remarks from the chair and a fireside chat with Alcalay, the first panel will set the scene for the day, by exploring the current opportunities and challenges of the Latin American M&A market. The discussion will include an analysis of what lies ahead for the market in 2023, such as the impact of political volatility and economic volatility on a global and regional scale.
The subsequent session will focus on the ever-increasing importance of ESG and diversity matters to stakeholder considerations. Panellists will discuss how this is encouraging more companies to incorporate ESG and diversity targets into their corporate frameworks – a new demand for businesses to meet alongside ensuring that financial statements and capital returns are up to scratch.
After a networking lunch, attendees will return to hear panellists discuss Latin America’s shift towards a greater acceptance of shareholders taking over companies through hostile takeovers. Delegates will address legal and contractual complications that companies must consider, such as poison pills and staggered boards.
After a coffee break, the event will conclude with a discussion on the future of private equity and venture capital investments in the region.
