US Law Schools To Fund Degrees For Ukrainian Lawyers

The University of Pittsburgh School of Law is working to bring several Ukrainian lawyers to the US to study and do pro bono work for a year. The initiative is part of the Pittsburgh Ukrainian Legal Aid Project.

Pittsburgh is determined to pay the Ukrainian LLM students tuition fees as well as covering their travel and living expenses if required. It will also help the students in getting their visa.

Due to the conscription rules in Ukraine, the students are mainly women who have fled Ukraine and are currently residing in European countries. However, the University of Pittsburgh has accepted two men who may be allowed to participate.

Other law schools in the US are also working to support Ukrainian lawyers, including the University of Miami School of Law and the University of Florida Levin College of Law. Both have opened a scholarship for a Ukrainian law graduate to attend their LLM program.
